Director of Youth Ministries (7th-12th grade)

                                 

CLASSIFICATION: TBD based on salary; Full-Time

 

Reporting to:

The Director of Family Ministries, the Pastor as Head of Staff, and the Personnel Committee of the Session.

 

Purpose of the Position:
To lead and serve with energy, imagination, and joy to fulfill TPC’s mission of inviting all people to build an active relationship with Jesus Christ. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide ministerial leadership and organizational oversight of weekly youth group programming that is welcoming and nurtures faith formation.

  • Build community within the youth group by establishing Life Groups, camps, retreats, and fellowship events.

  • Encourage and equip youth to develop leadership as they serve and lead within the church and community (Ex: midweek children’s program, VBS, TPC Mission partnerships, outreach, and community events). 

  • Develop relationships with local schools becoming familiar with the needs of the youth and families in our community. 

  • Provide hands on mission trip opportunities where students can compassionately serve as they live out their faith responding to the needs of others. 

  • Recruit, develop and train adult volunteers to utilize their gifts as advisors, Life group leaders, teachers, and ministry partners. Provide support, supplies and lessons as needed.

  • Build intentional relationships with youth and parents as we partner in encouraging and supporting families in building active relationships with Christ.

 

  • Communication, Administration:
     

  • Attend weekly staff meetings sharing in the vision and ministry of TPC.

  • Communicate and meet regularly with adult volunteers, Family Ministries Director, and Head of Staff.

  • Respond in a timely manner to parents, students, and congregation.

  • Maintain office hours to enhance collaboration with fellow staff and ministry development.

  • Participate in the life and community of TPC including Worship when it does not conflict with youth programming.

 

 

Educational Requirements:

  • A college degree in a related field and previous experience in Youth Ministries is required. 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move freely amongst obstacles, including bending, twisting, and able to lift up to    30lbs.

 

 

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • A follower and disciple of Jesus Christ, spiritually mature with a desire to continually learn and grow.

  • Strong technology, communication, leadership and Biblically based teaching skills.  

  • Energetic, ability to motivate others.

  • Comfortable meeting new people, excellent interpersonal skills with students and adults. 

  • Theological alignment in the Reformed tradition and a commitment to leading youth and families in the mission of TPC.

Children’s Sunday Ministry Coordinator

Classification: Part-time (up to 15 hours/week); hourly, non-exempt

 

Purpose: To lead and serve with energy, imagination, and joy to fulfill TPC’s mission of    inviting all people to build an active relationship with Jesus Christ.        

 

Essential Skills:          

 

  • In partnership with the Director of Family Ministries, provide a safe, fun, and welcoming environment where children engage in Christ-centered education and creative activities that nurture faith formation.

  • Partner with parents in helping children and families develop an active relationship with Jesus. 

  • Be present and prepared at least 3 Sunday mornings a month before and after Worship to welcome, assist and encourage children, parents, and Sunday School teachers. (8am-11am)

  • In collaboration with Director of Family Ministries, select, organize, and distribute Sunday lessons and to teachers.

  • In partnership with Director of Family Ministries communicate and maintain schedule for Sunday School teachers, and Childcare providers.

  • Teach Sunday School and Little Lambs when needed.

  • In partnership, engage families in Worship and special events that nurture faith formation (Bible presentations, Communion, etc…).

  • Collaborate with leadership to engage preschool families in the congregational life of TPC.

  • Maintain Little Lambs and Sunday School classrooms to ensure they are welcoming, clean, safe, and have the supplies needed.

  • Attend weekly staff meetings (in person or online) and ministry team meetings.
