About The Event
ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING (OGHS) ~ 2022
The OGHS offering, received by many Christian denominations during Lent, has been collected annually for more than seven decades. Although many aspects of the offering have changed, it was first initiated in 1946 to assist victims of World War II in Europe struggling with near-starvation and homelessness. The Russian invasion of Ukraine in late February has once again focused world attention on Europe as many countries, including the US, seek to provide a broad range of humanitarian assistance.
The leaders of several PCUSA agencies, including Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) and World Mission, along with mission co-workers in Europe, have agreed to rapidly provide financial assistance to a network of faith community partners in Europe assisting refugees. The TPC Mission Team invites your continued response to the need for financial assistance for both Ukraine and Syria/Lebanon. Last year TPC members generously donated more than $5,000 to the refugee relief and medical assistance programs of our church partners in Syria as part of a two-year $660,000 fundraiser. The OGHS offering will be on Palm Sunday, April 10 with children’s Fish Banks collected thru April 27.
If you would like to provide support for refugee relief through TPC, you may give online here or by check with Ukraine, Syria, or both on the memo line. OGHS envelopes will be provided on Palm Sunday April 10th for those who wish to contribute by check or cash that day. To mail donations directly, send them to Presbyterian Church (USA), P.O. Box 643700, Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700. Please include PDA #DR000156 on the memo line for Ukraine or PDA #E864355-Relief Support on the memo line for Syria.
