Getting Connected at TPC - Getting Connected

There are many ways to meet new people and get connected at TPC. Also, there are many ways to serve the Lord and have fun doing it!

Consider joining a COMMITTEE:

The Fellowship Committee is always in need of new members. The commitment includes a monthly meeting and then helping with the event, if you are available. Even if you can only help with one event, it would be very helpful. You will find that you receive more than you give, should you be able to participate. Please contact the church office 589-5110.

The Missions Committee offers many ways to serve. Quarterly they serve dinner at the Salvation Army in Santa Ana. Please contact Deanne Weissman if you would like to help. The Missions Committee also actively supports the Orange County Rescue Mission. Please contact Jill Nagasugi for serving opportunities at the Rescue Mission and other missions projects.

BIBLE STUDIES are another way to get involved:

The Men's Bible Study meets at 6am on Tuesdays. Contact Jim Gaston for more information.

The Women's Bible Study meets at 9am on Tuesdays. Childcare is available. Contact Kathy Smith for more information.

Every Sunday, an Adult Education Class is offered following the worship service in the Youth Room - led by Craig Repp. Attend worship first, then stay for the class. A children's program is offered during this time.

Become a MIDWEEK VOLUNTEER(Children & Youth):Pathfinders/Trailblazers (1st - 6th grade) meet Wednesday evenings 5:30 - 7:00. Contact Leanna if you'd like to help.

Vision (7th *& 8th graders) meets Wednesday evenings from 7:15 - 8:45 pm. Contact Casey if you'd like to help.

Agape (9th - 12th graders) meets Sunday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 (new time!). Contact Casey if you'd like to help.

Become an USHER or GREETER. We are always looking for willing volunteers who would like to welcome people on Sunday mornings and people who would like to usher during the service. Please contact Sue Geis.

Consider joining the ARTS GROUP. ARTS is for couples and singles who are experiencing and sharing the challenges of the "empty nest', later in life career changes, approaching retirement, or in active retirement, becoming grandparents, etc. Contact Ann Schuzle for more information.

The TPC CHOIR is always welcoming of new voices. They meet Wednesdays at 7pm in the sanctuary. Contact Cindy Hutcheson for more information.

HELPING HANDS MINISTRY This ministry is coordinated by your Deacons for each TPC Parish. Helping Hands is available to TPC Parish members for those short-term needs such as illness, births, hospitalizations and medical treatment. Assistance typically includes meals, errands, grocery shopping and transportation for appointments.

The Deacons call upon members of the congregation who are willing to volunteer and be of service when these needs arise. If you would like to participate and be a part of our Volunteer Roster, contact your Deacon or contact Ann Schulze. 713-3120

ARTS - Adults Redefining ThemSelves - ARTS

"ARTS" (short for "AdultsRedfiningThemSelves) is much more than a social group. Over 6 years ago we formed ARTS as a part of TPC Fellowship to develop deeper friendships and discover ways to support each other as we began to experience the next stages of life. So ARTS is composed of singles and couples who are in the later years of career, or are looking towards retirement or are already retired, or who are no longer dominantly "child centered" ( i.e. children are now 18+ years old), or who have more discretionary time, or who are seeking new careers and/or exploring volunteering, or are becoming grandparents, or are coping with physical changes and challenges, or are coping with aging parents... and/or all of the above and more!

As we experience these challenges, we are discovering our common experiences and interests and ways to support each other. As God calls us to live in community, we are seeking to grow in our faith and friendship.

If you attend TPC, are experiencing similar changes in your life and would like to get involved in ARTS, then please call Ann Schulze at 770-3120 or email ann.schulze@sbcglobal.net and find out more.

"NEW" empty nesters/retirees/singles/etc., - JOIN the ARTS group!!. We would love to get to know you. Please consider being an active and committed "member" of ARTS. You will receive our ARTS-wide emails for updated events.

CONTACT: Email Ann Schulze (ann.schulze@sbcglobal.com ) or call 770-3120.

No Title - Adult Education

Adult Education Class Begins Sunday, October 3, 2010:

When we say, "Yes" to Jesus, we are saying we will follow him wherever He leads for the rest of time. As Eugene Peterson noted, it's a long obedience in the same direction.

There are those who give the impression that we say "Yes" to Jesus and we're all set. One is left with the impression that the next meaningful step will be the welcome into the new heaven and the new earth. We can go on pretty much as we did before; maybe a little more honest, maybe helping out at church.

We don't find that notion in the Bible. Jesus calls people to be His disciples, His followers. Wherever He goes, His disciples go. Whatever He does, they do.

Where is Jesus going? What is He doing? How do we find out? This is why Bible studies, prayer, worship, and service are so important in the Christian life. It's also why I am so passionate and committed to lifelong learning as a Christian. We can never be satisfied with the child-level answers to life's questions. We live out there in the real world and we know that it's far messier than that.

The adult Sunday School classes are meant to help us to see Jesus; where He is going, what He is doing. The format and the topics vary widely. Sometimes it's a video series with discussion. Other times it's a study of a book of the Bible. Yet other times it is a study of a topic such as the early Church or other 'brands' of Christianity. Through it all, the idea is to learn how to follow Christ. We never do become independent workers. We're always disciples.

Our class will resume on October 3. We meet in the Youth Room from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Childcare is provided. Decide this year to be a part of the discussion. If you would like to be involved in assisting or in leading the group, ideas are most welcome. Our first topic of the autumn will be announced in the bulletin and in the next newsletter.

Peace,
Craig Repp

Welcome to the Trabuco Presbyterian Church website. We are glad that you are visiting. We are a community of people pursuing God, being transformed by Christ that we might be a blessing to our neighbors, community and world.

We gather on Sunday for worship and fellowship at 9:30 AM. An in-depth Adult Bible Study is offered immediately following the service at 10:30. In addition to our Sunday worship service we have opportunities to get connected through our dynamic children’s, youth and adult programs.

Midweek programs include Men's and Women's Bible studies, evening children’s and youth programs and multiple opportunities to join others blessing our community in mission.
My prayer is that as you visit us you will find Trabuco Presbyterian Church a place of genuine community where we together are being transformed by the love and grace of Christ.

Dear Parents,

We are so excited that your child is going to Forest Home’s Indian Village Camp with Trabuco Presbyterian Church this summer! We would like to let you know of some important details and upcoming dates that will help make your child’s camp experience exciting and fun! The theme for the week is “The Village Crew.” They will be exploring how Jesus’ life serves as a model for how we are to treat friends, outcasts and enemies.
The following are some important details regarding your child’s stay at Forest Home this summer from Sunday, July 4th - Friday, July 9th.

• Optional Camp Store Money: Please turn in your child’s camp money to TPC in the enclosed envelope either in cash or a check made out to Forest Home by Sunday, June 27th. Please see the attached form for help in determining how much to send for your child. Your camp registration fee includes your child’s camp photo or camp DVD, and a daily provided snack.
• Lunch Money NOT NEEDED! Due to the close proximity of Forest Home, we will NOT be stopping for lunch on the way up or back. There is no need to send lunch money with your camper. Please make sure your child has a decent lunch on Sunday because they will not be eating dinner until 6pm.
• Medications: Please bring your child’s medication in the original container in a labeled ziploc bag with enclosed instructions regarding the dose and time the medication must be taken. If the medication is not in it’s original container, Forest Home will not administer it. Please bring your labeled ziploc bag to the Check-In Table on Sunday, July 4th at TPC.
• Packing List: Download the Indian Village Packing List here.
• Indian Village Blue Luggage Tags: It is extremely important that every piece of luggage is properly tagged, including sleeping bags and backpacks. At Forest Home, ALL Indian Village luggage is loaded on the luggage truck and trucked to the Village. The BLUE luggage tags will ensure that your child’s luggage will arrive at the correct location. If you need luggage tags, please see Jennifer.
• Carry-on: Please have your child pack their bathing suit, towel, and sunscreen in a carry-on bag that they can carry with them because the pool will be open when they arrive. (Please see attached for Forest Home bathing suit rules!)
• Arrival: Please arrive at TPC at 1:30pm on Sunday, July 4th. You will be checking in your child, along with any medications, and then after a group prayer we will be saying our goodbyes.
• Pick-Up: Please be available to pick up your child at the church around 11:30 am on Friday, July 9th.

If you have any questions, please contact Leanna Rozean or Jennifer Pearson at 589-5110 or leanna@trabucopres.com or jennifer@trabucopres.com. We are excited about providing another opportunity for our children to learn more about God in a unique, fun, and safe environment of Christian community. Thank You!

Frequently Asked Questions - Online Giving

Is it safe to give online?
Yes. In many ways giving online is safer than writing a check in that an electronic gift cannot be lost or stolen. Online giving transactions are processed through a secure service provider. All transactions go directly the church’s bank account.
Why use online giving?
Online giving is a convenient and secure way for donors to give. It is cost effective for the church as it eliminates the manual processing of paper checks and cash.
What types of bank accounts can I give from?
You can give online from either your checking or savings account. This type of electronic transaction is sometimes called E-Checking or Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT).
Can I give using my credit card or debit card?
Yes. You can give online using credit or debit cards.
Who has control and access to my online giving records?
You alone have control and access to your online account. The church finance administrator does receive notification when your online gift is made and what fund it is for, so it can be received and recorded properly. Please use the “Note” box to type in if your gift is for something other than ‘Tithes and Offerings.”
There is the option to “Create an Account” on the giving page. What are the advantages of creating an account?
Ability to view your online giving history.
Ability to set up recurring gifts.
Ability to save payment profiles, which allows your payment information to be saved so you won't have to enter it every time you wish to make an online gift.
Ability to Login quickly with a password.
Can I make a one-time contribution?
Yes. The system allows you the option of making a one-time contribution.
Can I make recurring gift contributions?
Yes. The system allows you the option to set up a recurring contribution, one scheduled to come out of your bank account at dates and intervals specified by you. You have the option of giving weekly, twice a month, every two weeks, once a month, or once a quarter. You have control to start a recurring gift, change it, or cancel it anytime. IMPORTANT: To delete a scheduled series of contributions click the trash can and confirm the deletion for the specified recurring contribution.
Can I change my personal account information once I have set it up?
Yes. Simply log into the system using your user name and password and make the necessary changes in the system.
Can I review my online giving history online?
Yes. The site will allow you to view the history of your online giving. Please note that any contributions you make with a regular check or cash will not be reflected on your online record and therefore the online history report should not be used for tax purposes.
Will I still receive regular contribution statements from the church?
Yes. The church will continue to mail contribution statements to your home for tax purposes. These statements will show both your giving at church and your online giving.
When will contributions be taken from my account?
Contributions will be taken from your specified bank account within 48 business hours of the date you requested and will be deposited directly into the church’s bank account. This time frame allows time for the contribution to process through your bank and the church’s bank. If the date of your contribution falls on a weekend or a holiday, the transaction will be initiated on the next banking day.
How will I know that I set up my gift correctly?
Immediately after submitting your contribution, you will receive an e-mail confirmation from our online service provider – SimpleGive.
Are there any donor fees involved with online giving?
No. You will not pay any fees with an online gift. The full amount of your gift will be tax deductible.
Are there any church administration fees involved with online giving?
Yes. The church pays a fee of 1% of the gift amount per transaction fee for each online gift from a checking or savings account. The church pays a merchant fee of 2.28% of the gift amount for each online gift from a credit or debit card. Because of this fee, we would discourage the use of credit or debit cards when making very large gifts if the donor has other payment options available. Additionally, we pay about $40 per month in miscellaneous service fees.
What Funds can I give to online?
The system allows you to select “Operating Fund” or “Other” (for anything other than Operating Fund). The church can add and delete funds whenever needed.
Operating Fund - Funds the normal operating expenses of the church.
Other - Use at this time for anything other than Operating Fund. Please type the designation of your gift in the “Note” box.

If have additional questions about online giving that have not been addressed, please contact our Finance Elder, Pete Mitchell, at homes@petemitchell.com or 949-244-2555.
